George Gerapetritis
Professor George Gerapetritis is the co-founder and partner at “ATHANASSIOU-GERAPETRITIS [on leave-Minister for Foreign Affairs] Law Firm”. In accordance with Presidential Decree no 83/2019 (Government Gazette 121 / A / 9-7-2019) George Gerapetritis was appointed as Minister for Cabinet and is on temporary suspension from partnership at the Law Firm.
He is a Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of University of Athens and Attorney-at-Law, member of the Piraeus Association Bar, pleading before the Hellenic Council of State, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court on Human Rights. He specializes in public and EU law, and particularly in administrative law, human rights law and telecommunications law as well.
He has been a visiting Professor at the universities of Oxford and London (London School of Economics and Institute of Advanced Legal Studies). He has also been a Fellow of the State Scholarship Foundation, the British Council, the French State Council and the German Marshall Fund of the United States. In addition to his academic background, he has held important positions in international and national organizations, and has participated in a large number of legislation drafting committees. He has lectured at international conferences in Greece, Europe and America and, as a lawyer, he has handled many cases on behalf of citizens, the public sector and European Committee before the Hellenic Council of State, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
